Michal Stehlik graduated in 1999 from the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University
in Prague with a focus on history, specifically Slovak studies. In 2001 he received his doctorate at the Philosophical Faculty of Masaryk University in Brno, with special focus on Czech history. Since 1999 he has been studying at the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague for the PhD degree, specialization Czech history.
From 1999 - 2001 he was active as a historian at the Municipal Museum and Gallery in Da?ice. In 2001 - 2002 he was active at the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, Department of museums and galleries. Since 2002 he has been active at the National Museum Prague, and since he has been in the position of deputy general director responsible for collections and exhibitions. In 2002 he was member of the crisis team of the National Museum, which was responsible for gathering and distribution of informations. At the same time, he was member of the crisis team of the Association of Museums and Galleries and the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic that was responsible for the whole Czech Republic.
